Hello travellers! Welcome to SteveFirchow.com! I hope that as you look around you'll find something that tickles your eyeballs. We will be adding a store and a tutorial section in the future but for now its all "pitchurs"
I'm currently working with two studios, one in comics and one in video games.
My game work is primarily with SparkUnlimited. We released our first title, Call of Duty:Finest Hour, in November of 2004. My job during pre-production was to storyboard all 15 levels. In 3 months I drew 800+ little pictures to help the rest of the team visualize the designers ideas. I also spent countless hours in Maya, DeepPaint and Photoshop creating textures for the horde of little G.I.'s, Commando's, Russians and,of course, Nazi's that scurry around in the game.
Unfortunately, I can't say much about the game we're developing now except that it will run on next-gen consoles and has MONSTERS, not Nazis!
My comic work is mostly for Top Cow Productions . I work on 'Hunter Killer' with Mark Waid, Marc Silvestri and Joe Weems. My job is to add color and light to the black and white line art. I do this with Adobe Photoshop and there are many examples of my process throughout the 'pictures' section of this site. I also work on Rising Stars:Voices of the Dead , written by Fiona Avery with line art by Staz Johnson and Wayne Faucher. Hunter Killer and Rising Stars:VotD are books that require quite different approaches and are both very satisfying to work on.
I'm also working
with Phillip Vargas and JJ Kirby developing our own comic title tentatively
called "The Junction"
It will be published through Top Cow Productions and is scheduled for release
in March of 2006.
If you like going to comic conventions, I will be attending San Diego Comic Con this summer July 13-17th and will be signing at both the TOP COW booth and a booth I will be sharing with Billy Tan, Joe Weems, Joe Benitez, Keu Cha and Joel Gomez.
Hope you enjoy the trip!
