Steve Firchow was born on June 30th, 1966 in Lae, New Guinea, where he lived
for 16 years. He was dragged kicking and screaming to America in 1982. Steve
graduated with a BFA degree in Illustration from Cal State Long Beach in
1991 and quickly failed to earn a living as an Illustrator. He fixed other
peoples toilets for a couple of years while continuing to fail as an
illustrator. In 1994 he sold his soul to Homage Studios and started coloring
comic books. In 1995 Steve conned Brian Haberlin into hiring him as a
colorist for Top Cow. It went downhill from there. The nice people at Top
Cow still haven't figured out that Steve has no clue what he's doing.

At various points in his odd little career Steve has made pictures for :
Cactus Games
Frontline Music Group
Ace Books
Image, Marvel, DC and Dark Horse Comics
Mattel Toys
TSR.inc
Wizards of the Coast
Hanna Barbera
Sega Genesis, and various advertising and design firms around the US.
Steve currently pays his mortgage by digitally painting an array of
characters, creatures and weaponry for Spark Unlimited. Spark Unlimited
created its first game (for Activision) entitled Call of Duty: Finest Hour
which was released November 2004. In his spare time Steve also colors any
and all Marc Silvestri drawings he can get his hands on and continues to
work freelance for Top Cow Productions.
After Steve cut off his crappy long hair and threw away his Unabomber
glasses, he was lucky enough to meet and marry Heather Daniels. Steve and
his lovely wife live(quite happily) in a cozy little house
in Altadena, California.
